Worms (limited edition cart) finally made it to my house after waiting that long wait with everyone else for the second production run. Like a lot of the Atari Jaguar games that I waited for I am glad to say that overall it was worth the wait.Worms rounds off my jaguar collection by giving me a game with high replay value and strategy. The Story goes: WORMS is not much for plot, First sight reminded me of the old MSDOS Q-BASIC game gorillas (gorillas take turns throwing bananas at each other). The plot is simple, WAR!!!! Use your tools given to you to wipe your opponent off the face of the map. Mix it up, what are you looking at!!!????: According to the manual there are 4 billion landscape possibilities in worms. I have yet to prove them wrong of this statement; the backdrop or terrain in the game is pretty rich with detail and animation. There are plenty of dangers on the board to knock your opponents into or trap them from getting a good shot at you.The worms themselves are very small looking but animate nicely. And then came the game play: Like many other Atari games this game just has to be played to really feel, before the game first came out I just kind of looked at it. What’s so special about this game? Then after I bought tons of other jaguar games I came back around, I have to get this LTD game. The board sets up randomly and also places your worm team and the enemy worm team random on the board. The action is turn based, the computer or a friend takes a turn with a selected weapon then it’s the next team’s turn. The fun comes from the landscape, the wind effects on throwing the weapons and weapon type. There are many fun tools to tote to get your job done. Just to name a few. Bazooka, Grenade, Mine Sheep, Teleport, blowtorch, ECT. Each weapon or tool to aid you at clearing the map. Most weapons take some practice, you have to judge the throw as well as wind speed and landscape. Other little tidbits: Cart Looks. The CART is black with a WORMS in red jaguar lettering. (No Atari on back of cart) The instructions are Telegames newer paper style instructs (English Only) A.I. times. The A.I. times against the computer (jaggy) are a bit slow. Soft Boot:To insure the random generation of boards soft boot the jag once the game comes up. Scores: Graphics: 9.5 nice colorful sprites, tons of color, the worms is a bit small though. Fun Factor: 10 This game is a blast, when your tired of shooters it’s a nice break. Sound: 7.5 Nice little sounds for worms and effects, not much for music. Final thoughts: I was very pleased with this game, It’s not going to blow you away like some games will but if you are a loyal jag user or collector I don’t think you should be without it.
