Preview - Gorf Pluz / Gorf 2K

Gorf Pluz is an update of an old arcade classic and is currently being developed by FORCE Design. The game features old-school, overhead-shooting action similar to other early shooters such as Space Invaders, Galaga, or Demon Attack. If you had any liking towards those, you'll dig Gorf Pluz. Aside from a faithful conversion of the original found in Classic Mode, Pluz mode offers several improvements: larger sprites and colorful graphics; various playing fields and enemies; a consistant frame rate of 30 frames per second; a two player mode; bosses. A third mode, Gorf 2K, will offer 3D polygonal models and some other additions (None of which are currently available for show). Be sure to check back often, as more information will be posted here on this constantly-updated development.

Gorf Pluz Movie (.AVI, 1.59 MB)

This is a short and fairly grainy video of a Gorf Pluz in action, but it gives you the idea of what it will be like. It looks to be running very smoothly, and has great music too from Steven (Gorf 2000). Also worthy of noting are the voice samples from the original Gorf :)

On an interesting side note, at this year's Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, the Classic Mode of Gorf2K was available for display. The original developer of GORF, Jamie Fenton (Pictured above), stopped by to give it a play. We were told that she was very excited about the new Gorf, and wants a copy once it is finished.
